IRELAND - Tuesday, January 24th

On Tuesday 24th of January, the argentinian group went to an exchange at Colaiste Mhuire School. We were supposed to meet in the morning, but some people were confused about the meeting point, so it took a bit longer to get the day started.  Finally, when the whole group was together the bus started it’s way to the school.

Once we arrived, we met Fernando and a teacher that knew how to speak spanish. Inside the classroom, the exchange began and Irish students started their presentations about sports, geography, dances, food, some traditional things about Ireland and, of course, music. Our group tried out some food and quite enjoyed experiencing a different cuisine then our own.

Now it was time to give them a taste of our culture. Presentations began, including many of the same aspects of culture: music, dances, geography and food.  Of course this included the essence of Argentina, dulce de leche and mate. Mate was such a success! And to no surprise, they all loved the alfajores too. While music was being played, we showed them what “pogo” was and they all happily joined us in the dance.

After the exchange, a kind of “questionare” started, people from Ireland and Argentina were gathered in groups of 4 or 5 to answer those questions and see if they could win the prize. Friends were made, cultures were exchanged, our work was done, and so were theirs.

CII/F GROUP - Meeting with UL students coming in March

Well… As you know, we were doing all these random things around the university… This Tuesday night we went to the Stables. The Stables is a pub nearby the UL where almost everyone go to (there’s also the Scholars, another pub on the other side).
We had to do some things from a list, which included taking photos with students, learning Irish songs, and exchanging different parts of our cultures. While completing the task list we were given, we made some good friends and had a lot of fun. For example, earlier the same day we were at a school and it seems that one of the teachers was at Stables that night (on purpose, not a coincidence)… We thought he was like a serious guy, but we discovered he was a really funny and friendly person. It was so great to meet so many different and interesting people, and we did not want to leave.
