On Monday 30 we went to Bunratty Castle, it is quite a special place. Bunratty Folk Park is a living reconstruction of the homes and environment over a century ago. It is full of rural farmhouses and a village street complete with shops and restaurants. Bunratty House, with its formal regency gardens, are recreated and furnished as they would have appeared at the time. It is a window to the past. The castle present in the following photos was built around 1425, the last of a series that was built during the 15th century. It was a beautiful structure, in the style of the period of the Great Earl. The main block has three floors, each consisting of a single grand room, or hall. The four towers have six stories each. We entered the castle through a drawnbridge to the Main Guard. This castle is very old and very significant to Ireland, and still contains many of its original structures. We had to exercise care when touring the castel, as these historical buldings contain uneven steps, floors and headroom. We had a great time together and learned a lot of Irish history, about the rich families, the royal families, and the luxurious lives they had!

As mentioned before, some people went to the Sports Arena and others went into town to shop. Those that went shopping also went to the cinema to see a movie about horses. THey told us they like it, and it was a great movie. The best part is that they could understand it in English without any subtitles!
